Passports/Visas
You must have a current valid passport that remains old at least six month beyond your departure date to East Africa (Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania). The company recommend having your visa before departure to East Africa since most of the Airline now days insist having them provided that members of Commonwealth do obtain on any the entrance point.
International Airports
Tanzania: Dar es Salaam International Airport (Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere International Airport) named after the death of the first President of Tanzania, Kilimanjaro International Airport and Zanzibar Airport. The entire Airports are between 30 minutes to 1 hour drive to Dar city centre and Moshi town. Please check with your ticket agent if the $ 20 tax payment is included when buying the ticket otherwise you will have to pay during the entry of which should be in cash.
Kenya: The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport named after the late first President of Kenya, Moi International Airport in Mombasa. The entire Airports are 30 to 45 minutes drive to Nairobi and Mombasa.
Uganda: Entebbe International Airport is the main international Airport of Uganda. It is located near the town of Entebbe, on the shores of Lake Victoria, and about 35 km from the capital Kampala.
International Airlines
Most of the International Airline that operates in East Africa that is Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda are of the same companies interconnecting the East Africa clients before departure to Europe and coming to Africa. These flights include British Airways (London-Heathrow – Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam - Nairobi - Entebe), Brussels Airlines (Brussels, Nairobi), Kenya Airways (Amsterdam - Nairobi), and Royal Dutch Airline KLM (Amsterdam - Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam - Nairobi - Entebe). Food and Drinks
We will take you to the best hotels and lodges that prepare both local and western style food. We request or clients to take bottle water and shower with the tape water only.
Customs
Equipments like binoculars, video cameras and digital cameras are allowed with duty free. Other equipments such as musical instruments, music system and tape recorders the immigration will ask you to ensure re-export them since verse versa one need to pay for the tax. Another duty free is of cigarettes, one bottle of spirit and alike. The international law has stipulated clearly on issue of abuse drug so should East Africa countries. It is advisable to ask for your receipt on purchasing of anything since the custom will ask you for it. Insurance
We require that all tourists to arrange for personal travel insurance to cover their medical, property, and other personal risks for the duration of their visit. The company will at it level best make sure that you stay safe and nothing unusual occurs.
Health
Tourists from countries infected with cholera and yellow fever must produce international vaccination certificates during their entrance. Anti-malaria medication is strongly recommended when traveling to East Africa. Anti-malaria tablets are recommended to be taken a few days prior to your arrival, during your stay and for a short period after returning home. Flying doctors are available and we strongly recommend again if you are planning to trek one of the East African highest peak please contact your doctor before departure.
Language
Don't worry about the language, we speak Kiswahili and we will teach you some words to go back with at home. English is the official language in East Africa, apart from our guides who known German, Spanish and French.
Electricity
Be careful especially if you are from U.S.A and other countries using 110 voltage during plugging your laptop, digital cameras, video cameras adapter and other electronic devices in electrical outlet since the voltage is as follows; 220/240 voltages.
Clothing
During the day most of the places in East Africa is sunny and some clouds and chilly in the evening and before dawn. Apparently snow is experienced at the top of Mountain Kilimanjaro and Kenya. Mostly of the people living in Europe and America don't suffer from cold done here. Light clothes are advisable with flat shoes. Mostly you need what you wears during the summer time at home but a light jacket/sweater may be needed in the evening at higher altitudes. For alpines please see our Mountain gears here.
Photographs
Be careful not to take pictures of police, military offices and all places with sign boards written DON'T TAKE PICTURE. Maasai community and other citizens do inquire and information before taking picture of them as they feel offended. So it is extremely important to ask them before doing so. If you want to take some peoples picture just ask our driver to ask for you. Please bring with you nice cameras and their accessories.
Security
Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda are the safest countries though as any other country in the World robbers are available. The company will make sure at its level best that we take you to the safe places for shopping and accommodation but avoid wearing expensive jewelry; keep an eye on your purses, wallets, handbags, and cameras. Never accept food or drinks from strangers. |
