MOUNTAIN KILIMANJARO

Mountain Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa and one of the World's largest free standing mountains, is located 330 kilometers south of the equator on the northern border of Tanzania.

Having its headquarters at Marangu gate, Kilimanjaro consists of three summits; to the west the Shira plateau (3,962) meters extinct volcano, to the east Mawenzi peak 5,149 meters and Kibo between the two (5895) meters which are dormant volcanoes.

Kilimanjaro is Africa's most pleasing mountain and the view of its majestic, snow capped peak is recognized throughout the World. The

ecosystem is a chain of distinct vegetation zones that form belts around the mountain; lower slopes; montane forest; heath and moorland; alpine desert and summit. There are several routes to reach the top: Marangu route (Coca cola as it's famous to the west) is the most popular the only offering huts accommodation. Machame, Mweka, Umbwe accommodation on camp and tents.

Kilimanjaro is accessible throughout the year but it is also not recommended during the rainy seasons of April and May. The mountain is achievable in five days and above depending on the route undertaken but it's recommended to take one day for acclimatization.
